holding back high end GigE pieces of technology to maintain backwards compatibility with 1980 technology seems a little "stone age". is there any way this can be changed to allow for the option higher MTU's on the gigabit switch and/or the WAN interface? I'm guessing its somethign hard coded into the Broadcom builds. On my Actiontec MI424WR with DD-WRT, this was easily done by simply keyingīut on my Linksys WRT610N, any value above 1500 is rejected. a good paper on why to do this can be found at so on the WAN port at least (and possibly on the internal wired lan as well), I'd like to have the option to enable the MTU 9000 jumbo frames on a port by port basis. in my case, I have two routers connected by Cat6 cable to a high speed backbone, that supports jumbo frames. for obvious reasons of improved throughput (1500 mtu hasn't changed since technology of the 1980's, but LAN's have improved dramatically). With gigabit ethernet available on most modern routers, I'd really like to see the ability to enable jumbo frames. Posted: Sat 8:19 Post subject: Jumbo Frames capability please
